SCENAR was originally developed for the USSR space programme in the 1970’s as a means of enabling Cosmonauts to treat themselves while in space. Orthodox treatments such as pharmaceuticals would contaminate the water supply since all water was recycled and surgery in zero gravity would be somewhat challenging.

Protocols for a wide range of conditions were developed which could be then followed by Cosmonauts to treat themselves and one another.

Initially used to treat the Cosmonauts and the political elites, due to it’s success, SCENAR was also used on the sporting elites which was when the technology came to prominence in the West, when at the 2000 olympics a smaller version of the one we use professionally was tested at Macquarie University. after the fall of the USSR in the 1990’s SCENAR technology was also rolled out for general use in Emergency Departments throughout Russia.
